It was cold and cloudy out, with the snow falling in quiet waves. The world around her was silent for the most part, aside from the quiet tapping of trees growing too heavy with the snowfall and dropping snow off in the distance or breaking the branches. But this time, she went further than she had gone before – when she had met Phoebe and they had gathered some food. This time, she was searching for the Luxere again, her eyes wide and attentive as she remained bundled up from head to toe to fight off the chill in the air.

Once again, the woman came prepared with apples, knowing that she couldn’t sing like Lily could. If anything, she’d frighten the poor creatures away with her attempts. But she could bring apples as offerings to the lovely creatures. Whether they took them or not was another story, but yet again Rexanna figured that it couldn’t hurt to try. She had made it to the edge of the Oasis – seeing the water iced a little on the edges as it glistened in the clouded light.

But as she moved her head to the left, she saw them again. Along the side of the oasis, a few of them with their beautiful glimmering and glowing antlers, eating and grazing in peace. They would have been hard to spot were it not for their glowing antlers, and she found herself inching toward them yet again, an apple in her gloved hand as her other hand carried the pack of the rest of the apples – her eyes glued onto the target with as much of an open mind and happy thoughts as she could muster.

nothing ever ends poetically.
all that blood was never once beautiful,
it was just red.
