Deimos couldn’t help smirking and snickering at the nervous grin forming on Sah’s face – if the other man had paled and fainted, the Sword wouldn’t have been surprised. He took a little pity on him, centering his own smile so it didn’t hold so much mirth and mischief. “I think you would be surprised. Safrin appreciates those who endear themselves to her. Flattery will go far.” A shrug of his shoulders, haunted memories buzzing in his mind; better days that didn’t turn out that way, in the end. "I was an Abandoned Outlander too."
But from what he’d understood of Sah, the ambition to go seek out other deities, save for the recent experience with the Voice, had been few and far between – and Deimos couldn’t blame him. Not after all the stories. Not after all the experiences. Not after all the potential for curses. “But Seren is allowed to make her own choices in friends,” he arched a brow, certain of it, even for overprotective parents. “So start there.” And then he snorted, an afterthought lurking, but not voiced.
