The tip of his tail twitched back and forth, expressing contentment with the wolf beneath his wing and the small sliver of peace that settled over his ward's frazzled emotions.

It seemed they would have no breaks tonight, no chances to settle and recover before plunging into the deep waters of the next stormsurge. Sah changed the topic, and where she leaned against him the demi-goddess grew very still, holding her breath as the realization sank in.
