The panic that rises like a white wall of water in the back of the alchemist's throat disappears entirely as Mort's fingers close around his own. It's a feeling of bliss and easy serenity that he's never known, that leaves his spirit sighing with gratitude and his heart thumping out a gentle rhythm.
