The deer give little notice of him of course; wounded Remi might be able to take one down, but they have nothing to fear from a hawk (even one as large as he is). Even as he swirls in the air to abruptly come about, only one of the deer raises its head to scent the wind.
Diving down, Remi emits a piercing cry into the air that seems to linger far longer than it should in the stillness of the meadow. With his claws outstretched toward the rump of one of the deer, the herd jumps to life. Darting forward with wide dark eyes, they bolt for the safety of the trees, unsure what exactly they are fleeing from, but instinctively carried away by their flight instincts just the same.
