As much as he didn't want to admit it, Nate couldn't help but agree with Varus' voice in his head. There's a grim set to his jaw as he looks back at Wessex and the basilisk, his mind going in the same direction as hers. What came after the snake? What other horrors waited deeper in the burrows, what more could there be when the first step had already hurt him so badly? We can come back, better prepared.
