Ever opens his mouth, closes it, gulps, tries to figure out if he's having a stroke or a panic attack, forgets to breathe, and then sits heavily down on one of the chairs as if Mateo has just told him he only has a week to live. "Like-like me, you mean?" He asks warily, feeling suddenly like he needed to pee and also very badly wanting to curl up into a ball.
His friend's outburst, musical and nonsensical to his ears, draws his gaze up from the floor. He thinks he heard his name, and a word that sounded like school, but other than that, he has no idea what Mateo is on about. "Well...I think...Isn't it up to your parents?" He wonders, not sounding convinced. Certainly if he wanted to leave school it would be up to Tobi and Finn, but something tells him that that isn't the case for Mateo. "I do know what I"m doing, yes." Ever agrees, seemingly not at all bothered that his inclinations and dreams weren't taken into consideration.
