Ray tells him to water it so he does, standing up with a soft groan before filling up one of the little cups with water and handing it to Paige. She might be a micromonster but he doesn't want her to get burnt. At least if it's in the cup, she isn't reaching into the water.
He fills up his own cup before crouching down again and carefully pouring it over the hole. He tries to go slowly to keep it from flooding. After all, it needs time to soak up the water right? Yeah, that seems to make sense to him.
