From being an Abandoned who had rarely left the Hollowed Grounds, to embracing the call of adventure, to dying and being reborn first as an Ascended and then as an Ancient, Maea has gone through quite the amount of changes in her life. One thing remains common, though, in her attempts to find out just where she belongs; she’s always had a craving for knowledge which has brought her to so many places and to meet so many people here in Caido. We can’t wait to see what else is in store for her!

From seemingly nowhere at all Noah will feel the tapestry of his soul come almost completely untethered as Neron 's magic plucks at a string of it and pulls. Hard. Suddenly winded and exhausted, the newest demigod will feel his life all but drain away. At least for a few moments. Down a tentacle though he might be, Remi is able to strike the dinosaur with two more chunks of ice.
Noah 's arrow is unable to find a target given the Hailstorm's stealth and invisibility. Hopefully, the sheen of his shield will deter Neron from getting any closer, as the Sentinel heals both himself and Remi. The already snow-blindingly white tundra becomes star-spangled and bright as Ronin 's supernova lights up the world. Healing Remi and Noah, and subsequently injuring Wessex (since W wasn't 'attacked' there's no splashback damage from the AoE and in this instance her feats don't apply because it isn't against her, and sadly by the time she saw the light, the damage had already been done), Kiada (deflected partially thanks to her armour), Neron, and the monster (damn, Ronin).
Kiada 's arrow strikes the creature but without some sort of critical success on her part, regular arrows simply aren't going to do more than irritate it. But hey, every little bit helps, right? Given that Wessex is now high above the water and with a taste for octopus, the beast targets Remi again. Lobbing another block of ice at him (tit for tat), which goes wide (and misses Neron), the dinosaur beats its hind legs and tail beneath the water, snapping its jaws to try and take another appetizer or two. Only one of its chomps are successful, leaving a horseshoe-shaped ring of punctures in one of the Lullaby's tentacles.

Hahahafuck, is about the extent of Neron's thoughts on the matter. His elation turns swiftly to irritation as his sensors inform him that he's been caught in a solar fucking flare, the Ascended wisely hunkering down to take cover. (Not that there's much cover at all to take in the current situation, but a bit of exploded ice that hasn't hit him will do).
He has no idea if the stupid starry bastard can do that again straight away, and he's not at all keen to find out. And so, reaching for ice this time, Neron flings some razor like shards of it at Noah, before slinking away as stealthily as he can. With any luck, he'll get out of range of any nonsense, and then he can decide where to go from there.
Neron flings ice at Noah using his Water Manipulation, and then tries to get the hell out of dodge with his upgrade still active (AKA out of range of their stupid attacks).

I did say I was fine. Remi thinks with a twinge of humour in his husband's direction. He hadn't actually, but he'd felt to Ronin that he was fine. But this...it packs more of a punch than anything else we've encountered. That Ronin should be careful was an understatement. That Noah should avoid getting hit entirely hopefully didn't need to be said.
Not able to voice his frustration given his current set of vocal organs and chords, the kraken was left with little way of showing his frustration other than simply slapping at the fucking dinosaur. Reaching out with two tentacles to try and smack the creature on the top of the head and out of the range of its teeth (hopefully), and continues to act as a shield for Ronin and Noah.
Remi tries to bitch-slap the dinosaur twice.

Noah's breath leaves his lungs with an elongated gasp. It takes everything in him -- which is not much -- to keep from tottering to his knees. He kept a tight grip on his bow, and his other hand moved instinctually back to his quiver. As rapid as the life pulling from his very core is, the healing is just as rapid. The hunter's eyes were wide as he felt both death and regeneration in the same breath. It was something he never wanted to feel again.
The healing brought all of his thoughts back into focus and he lifted his bow again, nocking an arrow and trying to track the faintest hint of movement on the ice before him. He hoped the ice would prove to be difficult footing as he had known it to be. Watching as ice was thrown his way, Noah pulled in a breath and aimed a little ahead, trying to predict Neron's movement before loosing the arrow, hoping to hit and set the hybrid on fire, before turning his body and bringing up his arm, hoping the coat Frey made for him would offer some protection from the cutting shards. He stayed close to Remi, his words a warning that he needed to continue to use the kraken as a shield.

Noah Noah shoots another arrow (hopefully) towards Neron and turned and shielded his face with his arm from the ice, hoping the Sentinel's coat would help protect him and stays close to Remi.

Then you'd better consider keeping yourself safe as well - please. Ronin's voice is strained as it echoes through the Attuned bond, and he glances back to Noah only briefly before taking flight. Leathery wings beat at the frigid air, carrying him up and into the sky where he can fire off three more starbolts at the creature. And he does, taking himself out of Remi's shielding in order that he can try and keep the monster's attention divided.
Because there's more than one thing out here that it can take snaps at, and not all of them are demigods, thank you very much. You be careful as well, he warns Noah, because Remi is right - this is unlike anything they have ever faced before.
Ronin takes to the sky in his partial shift, moving himself out of Remi's shield. He conjures three more starbolts and fires them off at the monster.

“Fuck’s sake.” Kiada snarls, gritting her teeth against the supernova from Ronin, which thankfully Wessex blocks some of it from hitting her. Her arrow is still useless, though, and she decides that it’s now or never. Reaching into the abundance of abilities Wessex has stored that she’s stolen (and the extra bits and bobs of upgrades she can now mimic, which holy hell there’s a lot to sift through), she makes her decision.
She readjusts slightly on Wessex’s back, hoping her previous life lived as an Attuned helps her in this. “I’m going to join you Wessex, hang on.” She manages to say, deciding to use any kind of momentum she has, reaching down and tugging on that mechanical bird shift, and begins to shift the second she launches herself off of Wessex’s back, aiming to not have a terrible descent like she did in the last big adventure she had, banking slightly to the side to shoot feathers at the dinosaur.
Kiada jumps off Wessex’s back and shifts into Wessex’s mythical shift hoping her experience Attuned helps her with the shift and immediately shoots feathers at the dinosaur while trying to stay out of range.

When Kiada announces that she’s joining Wessex, the Wraith isn’t quite sure what she means - until she feels her sister shifting on her shoulders and then she stabilizes herself as best she can until the young woman jumps - fearless and faithful. Part of her hoped she might have healed herself, but she has to admit that the Halovian has balls. And guts. And now - metal feathers.
Wessex dives along with her, just in case something goes wrong. Swerving away from Kiada once it seems like she’s all right, Wessex shoots her own metal feathers into the water, hopefully avoiding star bolts, tentacles, and the creature’s teeth.
As she pulls up and tries to heal herself, she projects to Kiada, I can keep another bird in the sky and work some magic if you feel solid enough to let me ride you for a bit. Don't mind the slight bit of excitement in her tone, she's just excited to play around with some new tricks.

Wessex dives along with Kiada (just in case) and then banks in the opposite direction and shoots a feather at the monster while trying to avoid teeth, tentacles, and starbolts. She tires to heal herself while offering a next-moves suggestion to Kiada.

Thanks to Remi and the dinosaur there is an abundance of ice about for Neron to throw. Raising a good-sized chunk with his magic, Neron strikes Noah squarely with it. Ouch. Leaving the ice-throwing for now, Remi just hits the dinosaur turning this deadly and chaotic scene into something you might find a child acting out in a bathtub with their toys.
Meanwhile, Noah is shooting an arrow out into the tundra (or so it seems), when suddenly it thunks into something solid, and..well...lights it on fire. As it is, the ascended is very nearly fucked, but as with every KQ, manages to evade death despite now quite literally being on fire.
Nearly the size of a house, we'd hope that Ronin wouldn't miss, and oh look, he doesn't. Starlight dazzles from his fingertips, striking the dinosaur in three brilliant blasts, followed quickly by Kiada, sporting (and shooting) metal feathers. Rest assured the metal feather she shoots does significantly more damage than her arrows did. One of Wessex 's arrows follows, slicing another clean line through the dinosaur's skin, all of which have it warbling in furious pain and annoyance.
Snapping its teeth toward Remi again and biting one of his trailing tentacles, now the dinosaur turns its attention toward the shiny bird-things in the sky. Lunging toward Kiada and Wessex, it attempts to bite each of them. Snapping its teeth on Kiada 's wing in a way that will likely make her spin out of control for moment, it thrusts toward Wessex, and catches one of her wings as well. Unable to heal herself while shifted (that's a magic, not an upgrade), Wessex's splash-back does affect the dinosaur as it crashes back down.

Just when you think it can't get worse, you're on fire. That's how Neron's day is going anyway, how about yours?
Rolling and hissing out a curse as his sensors register both the fire and the arrow - ow - the Hailstorm takes refuge behind one of the larger chunks of ice where he can collect himself. And, digging deep into magic that isn't his own, he opts for the more intelligent decision (weird, I know).
Using the healing gained from Wessex, he lets it flood through him, though it's not really enough to get him back out into the fight.
I'm a little banged up over here, he projects out to his fellow Ascended. I could use some help if you have some on offer, Wessex. But if you think you've got it, I'll get the hell out of dodge.
And, because hahaha, why wouldn't he, I hit Noah hard. He's weak.
Neron takes cover and keeps his invisibility upgrade engaged. He uses the healing he gained from Wessex in in frozen fractals all around and has a nice chat with his siblings.

I will. I will tell you if I need help, until then, this seems to be working. Remi thinks toward Ronin. Or, it was for the two of them, he thought. Noah? Aware only distantly of the demigod behind him somewhere, there wasn't much time for investigating the Sentinel's state through the bond when there was a giant dinosaur taking chunks out of his tentacles.
Ronin, I don't know how much longer I will be able to just take this... He says warningly. This not being the pain of it, but the lack of retaliation. Perhaps such was being a tank, and if Remi had to swallow his aggression to keep Noah safe, so be it. But he'd hate it for his husband to hear.
Reaching out, Remi tries to slap the dinosaur twice again heedless of the growing wounds and teethmarks on his tentacles.

Noah only had the briefest moment of satisfaction to see his arrow land and ignite. Flashes of Neron come into his view from beneath the arm that shielded his head as the man rolled around. Then, the ice hit him. It was a rather large projectile, and with the way Noah had twisted his body it hit him beneath his shoulder, in the rib cage. White hot pain flashed across his eyes and alarm and fury rang together equally and loudly over the attuned bond.
"Ronin--pull me away--heal" Noah called out, hoping it was enough to gain the man's attention and have him pulled away by the nimbus he crouched on. The words were choppy but as loud as Noah could manage with the damage to his ribs, which he knew had damaged a lung. He sucked in another breath, lungs expanding painfully, and one more substantially than the other. He couldn't stay where he was with the potential for another attack. He hoped that his comrade had another healing magic within his reach.

Ronin doesn't have to hear Noah out loud - between the feelings roiling from his husband and those lancing through his fellow demigod, he's got a pretty good idea what's happening. I'm taking over, he says, wings tucking in so he might dive down to where the Sentinel and the nimbus are. I've got Noah. Hit it with everything you've got.
Trusting Remi to do just that, his wings flare out to shield Noah from anything incoming. A human shield might not give as large a cover as anything else, but it's better than nothing. "I'm still working on that supernova," he says softly to the other man, "but hopefully this will help for now." Touching a hand to one of the constellations that ink his forearms, he draws on Virgo to provide some much needed succor.
Ronin flies down and takes over from Remi to block Noah from any incoming attacks. He engages his Virgo tattoo to provide some healing to Noah.

Shackles of the Virgin: Summons the Virgo Constellation for one post. The constellation is semi-transparent and appears as a beautiful celestial figure. May heal at a Basic level. Exists as a constellation-tattoo when not in use, but manifests in golden shackles when used.

There’s a short lived moment of excitement when the feather sinks into the creature, something longing and craving the need for flight once again (having missed it since she’d returned), but again, it doesn’t last long. Because the creatures aimed toward her and Wessex now and lunges at her, snapping at a metal wing. Her sensors flare and she winces and she spirals out of control, trying to baby herself and orient herself toward where she’d last seen Neron.
She tries to coast back into a safe area, onto solid ground instead of the shelf of ice. If she manages to make it there, she tries to scout where Neron is, unaware of the shit that’s gone down while she’s been high above.
Kiada tries to even out her spiral to land on solid ground hopefully near Neron.

Wessex has clearly underestimated the power of the monster’s upward thrusts, it’s reach, and its dexterity, because there is more than a little shock running through her as it gets a hold of one of her wings. And she's about to retaliate with a bitch slap of her own wings when she sees Kiada spinning out of the corner of her eye (the shrieks, the lava - the - ) and Neron's in her head and - and everything is okay.
Shaking her head at how close they are to disaster, the General replies to both Kiada and Neron, We’re coming, Neron. I can’t see you though - Not in this snowstorm, not behind the ice shard, so she follows Kiada and overshoots her, trying to maintain enough distance that they’ll be out of the range of ice-throwing, body-slamming water monsters, and whatever else Ronin decides to light up the day with. Can you see us? We need to get out of range. I'm sorry, I can't - I think I need you to stay. But I have some ideas. Shifting back to her regular form, Wessex heals herself and then summons a big ass polar bear to hide the three of them in the snowstorm while she resupplies them.

Wessex follow Kiada to the ground, telling Neron to meet them about 60 feet from the action. Shifting back into human form, she heals herself and summons a large polar bear to stand still and hide them for the next round, cause #whiteout.
