In their haste and distraction as they hear the roaring, they don’t notice how they’ve slipped out from Isla’s (and the Prince’s) company. So they continue, charging up ahead, until finally they see a big black dragon and a yellow one on the ground looking rather lifeless. Looking at the black one, though, they try to figure it out. They do recall a few conversations between themself and Nate, as well as a most recent one with Wessex about such a shift from Nate’s husband, and it only makes sense to them that if it was a dragon from here they likely wouldn’t be fighting, right?
So they try to guess, raising their hands to shout toward the black dragon. “Nate!” They shout, hoping to stay far enough away from any other beasts that might want to fuck with them some more. They activate their healing just on the off chance it works for what they assume to be Nate, and they point back in the direction they’ve come from, hoping that it’s right.
Azrael thinks they recognize Nate in the shift and activate their healing, calling out to Nate and pointing back the way they came!
