It is strange, he has to admit. But he’d rather stay in a space bustling with the sounds of people out and about than aloft in a space that had once been his home. Alone. Because Nate or Bart were back home with the twins and he’d taken a moment to reach out and check up on things. They’ve worked it out, the times home together and the times they need to spend ensuring their own little safety during the lead up to the war. Training and connections and all that.
Still, there’s surprise as the door closes and her hands fist in his shirt, soaked through with the rain. His eyes find her face, even if she won’t look at him, and he can’t help but to remain silent as her words leave him. It cracks something within him, something that has him working his jaw as he reaches up with a rain soaked hand to lift her chin, to finally look into that cracked, bi-toned gaze of hers. “Okay.” He agrees.
He imagines Nate would understand, at the very least. “We have to dry off first, though. I’m not fucked up enough to sleep soaking wet.” He offers her a small smile, thumb stroking her jaw before his hand leaves her. "I can start the fire?" He suggests, nodding his head toward the empty fireplace in the room.
