Emmett felt shame on top of everything else as Phoebe wiped his tears. It went against how he'd been raised, that he was meant to be the man of the family, the strong rock. Strong rocks didn't cry on the floor with girls rubbing their faces, but it was beyond him to refuse her help. "I...I can' look after the whole farm myself."
