Her eyebrows do raise at that, and she can't help the smile to hear the sudden levity in his tone of voice.
"It isn't the same any more, since I stopped being able to taste it," she admits. "But I appreciate the offer all the same. You feel free, though, if that's what you want." Her smile feels like it's about to crack, Isla huffing out a shuddering breath that quickly becomes a gasp as her gaze finally drops to his hand. "Remi, what has happened to your fingers?" she asks, concern knotting through her words.
