Her pace wasn’t sedate, but Melita figured both companions and Abandoned would be able to keep up with her unrelenting movements – partially restless, a portion attentive, eager, and fervent. Her eyes flickered about in all directions as they maneuvered beneath long vines and draped leaves, the sun striving to search and piece its way through the canopy. Her head tilted slightly, gaze motioning to him for an instant, before motioning along the soil once more. “Have you ever seen a ramphire before?” Because then there’d be a host of explanations about the finer details of the animal, what they were looking for, and where to best spot one. “Last time I hunted for them, they were in a clearing.” So, of course, she dutifully followed old paths.
