Deliberately, purposefully slow, at any other time the girl might have thwarted Lilliane’s movements. It wasn’t that she felt bad – but the youth should’ve had some measure of success. So she took her time in blocking, permitting the stick to hit her along the stretch of calf muscles, enough for her to dodge and maneuver out of the way thereafter. “There! Much better!” She grinned, readying another approach and tactic, when Fangorn began grumbling and hissing.
Pausing momentarily, she looked to where the vampire gourd was staring, his vines waving, clearly irritated – and then she saw it. Some looming jaguar (a shimmering green – she hadn’t been aware they even came in those hues) along the jungle-lines, where the trees met the sand, pacing, perhaps, in an attempt to gauge them.
The girl narrowed her eyes, sneering; a dangerous, emboldened, and audacious proposition beginning to fill her mind.
“Maybe we should test your methods on that,” and she pointed the predator out, as it appeared to be getting closer. Melita, in all her vehement, vicious, and sometimes incredibly stupid, glory, certainly wasn’t going to let it assume she was prey.
And raced forward, staff in hand, to show the beast exactly what she was made of.
