Of all the things Nikolai expected or even considered encountering down here, a talking squirrel never registered. Not in the least. What the fuck is this shit? It reminded him of a book he read in the Atheneum, almost. Something about a girl and a weird talking white rabbit? Well, the girl survived, so maybe Nikolai should give the squirrel a chance.
After a moment of consideration, Nikolai does just that. Warily he followed the squirrel, wrist upgrade tensed and ready to activate. The creature could very well be lying. Hell, it most likely was. But the situation was too bizarre for the curious Ascended to ignore.
Nikolai follows the squirrel. His energy shard upgrade is braced for activation.
