Not when it had been purposeful, no mindless slaughter, but ensuring another had found some solitude and repose out of all this chaos.
But all of them had experienced death many times, and the Sword wasn’t sure if it ever became easier.
With a nod to Hotaru and Sah, words no longer reaching the back of his throat, he simply signaled to his own companions. Belial rose from the ground, where he’d blended into long grass for safety. Zuriel stared distinctly into his soul, and he hoped those bonded to him never ended up in the state of the daemon. With a small smile, he started back the way they’d arrived, leading the forefront of the movements again. An initial venture successful – and only more to come.
