As far as he's concerned in the web of illusions below, Nate is still approaching the Tower. Quite why he hasn't gone for the bait of his astral projection is beyond Ronin - the other man definitely seemed on a hair trigger - but no matter.

His eyes close briefly, and when they open again... he sees Nate almost directly in front of him. (Or rather, he sees his illusion, but again, he doesn't know that yet). And so with a smooth inhale, Ronin unleashes his supernova at point blank range.
Unaware of real!Nate and Wessex's location and believing the illusion, Ronin performs a switcheroo with his astral projection and detonates a supernova.
