I invite you into my home, you make broad generalizations and accusations about my character and beliefs, and then you want my assistance.” Grudging and spiteful and petty he may be – but he was also working on instilling boundaries. Being overbearing, rude, and condescending wasn’t doing the elder man any favors.

He couldn’t be certain of the entire number, not when there were many families he’d never known at all. “Do only the dead matter? When the innocent still suffered? They make errors just the same as us.” He paused, considering the weight of his words. “It is not my job to convince you. You have asked for my experiences and history, and then judged me for it.” Told him to forgive and forget the way some of those he cherished fell apart, which was out of the question. To bury his head in the sand and snow. “As for killing the Voice, it would eliminate her followers. They depend on her to survive. I do not see why we could not find a way to place her under a dome again.” And preferably just her.
