it always feels more quiet in the dark
"Only if you are chasing tennis balls," Finn says quietly, smiling down at his breakfast as he starts to clear his plate. He does wonder how well Tobi's particular breed would cope running across the Tundra, but he doesn't say that. "You'd be able to deliver medicine by sled, even if you aren't in it for long trips," he says, inadvertently continuing the conversation from within his mind.
Scooting a bit so Tobi can prop her feet against his chair, Finn finishes his breakfast and glances back up at her. "He doesn't have a violent bone in his body," he agrees about Everest, and there's nothing but pride and warmth in his voice. "And you're right about that. If it weren't for Ronin being here, I'd suggest staying in Stormbreak just to keep Mateo out of trouble."
But Ronin is here, and that is the point. "...I think we ought to go, and stay through Deepfrost," he says suddenly. "That way, Everest will know that it isn't permanent, at least not yet. And we will have a better idea of the coldest temperatures. If it isn't for us, we can come back in Flowerbirth and start new here."
