He misses the puzzled look she gives him but that doesn’t mean he misses it in her voice, the frown deepening and evident from where he leans against the wall. “Thought I did too.” He admits. “Guess I didn’t agree with her whole anti-Ascended viewpoint.” How she’d promised to help him save Nate if the Voice were to perish, only to promise it under the guise of a life for a life, to a daughter he’d raised, only to be pitted against him time and time again. “Among other things.” Things she didn’t need to know about fully.
He finds her, though, when the news of Nate drops and sees her sway, sees her back hit the wall and he quickly looks away, staring at a speck in the bricks used to keep the house up that they sit between. “I did tell you that, didn’t I?” He rumbles with a hint of frustration – though not entirely at her, but more so at himself. At least, until she mentions the fact that the Voice was good at dredging up dead things.
To this he finds his gaze drifting back to her, his storm cloud eyes dark and muted. “Because of that LongNight or other reasons?” His curiosity outweighs the frustration that burns in his chest.
