we are just two ghosts swimming in a glass half empty
Ophelia takes his hand and rises, graceful and quiet aside from the sound of their skirts falling back to settle around their thin legs. They keep his hand in theirs as they turn to walk away, and Ophelia laughs softly at Zhanshi’s antics, clearly visible in the dark to their eyes. “Thank you for staying with me,” they utter softly, tilting to rest their temple on Amun’s shoulder as they walk. He didn’t have to, before or after he had determined the source of their grief, but the fact that he had is only further proof to Ophelia that this is the family The Voice expects them to be. That they are already.

Sunrise does not signify the same things for them anymore, with no need for sleep beyond habit and nostalgia, so they don’t linger long enough to see it. Ophelia doesn’t mind, they have something more important than a beautiful, ephemeral view.
