"Safrin even says they're some of her favorites." The Nightshade murmurs, a smile curling on her lips as she draws her knees up to her chest, arms wrapping around the tops of them.

A laugh bubbles up from her, making her nose wrinkle, "They're actually rather strong, but they can still break." Maeve shrugs her shoulders, holding his gaze as he floats before her easily, ever calm and stoic.

Her smile shrinks slightly and she hums, "I was a Madame, actually. It was Safrin who called me. She appointed me as queen and there was no going back after that." People think it's more complex than it actually is. Maeve's rise to power wasn't performed through a coup or anything of the sort. It was simply Safrin's desire and thus here she was.

Safrin's name drew a flash of interest from emerald eyes, and a hint of a smile threatened his stoic expression as he tucked that information away. It might never come in handy, but then again... who knew?

The strength and weakness of toes returned him to his more usual thoughtfulness and he nodded slowly at the dancer's words. It was something to be careful of if his human friends found themselves in the water among mer, but the conversation moved along to talk of leaders and the making thereof, and again a light came into his gaze as he regarded Maeve with fresh respect.

"She chose well," he said simply, acknowledging the human Queen and all that had led her to her current position.

It was nice to relax and talk for a little while, catching up and getting to know each other a little better while others took their turns on (and under) the ice. All in all, an unexpectedly enjoyable Deepfrost day in Torchline!
