He normally had manners and wanted to ask for the name of the ghost last time and thank it for saving him last time, maybe he can do it this time. But now it was important to survive.
Darkeye now has to make sure that Daddy Shark stays on top. He has a bait and grabs it and throws the bottle as good as he can in a different direction than he is running and hopes that the shark stays on top. It was a big risk for Evie to get so close to the shark and he is impressed with how well it worked out. If they keep it up, they might even make it.
