The pain ricocheted and volleyed through, and for a moment Melita couldn’t even be certain what happened, the dust, debris, and sand making it difficult to see, even without the scrapes and marring. Shielding her eyes, she could hear the commotion underneath and from Maeve, commands going up – but no landshark in sight.

Without any bait, the youth was at a loss, and she clenched her jaw, mulishly pawing through her quiver again. This was going to likely be a shitshow, and she was worried for Darkeye. For Evie. For all of them. It pulsed at her hands, but she refused to shake.
Uncertain if or when the beast would come up again, she’d have to rely completely on Evie’s abilities – drawing another ice arrow, and waiting for the inevitable. If it came up, she’d certainly shoot.

If Evie is capable of getting them a clear shot at the landshark, Melita will try to fire an ice arrow at it.
