Failure is bitter on her tongue, as is the acidic tang of worry as Maeve is toppled. But her hands reach uselessly for their most injured member once more, and as the landshark emerges and bares itself, she knows they have one last Hail Mary - Melita.
But Evie isn’t going to rely on their downward spiraling luck again. Especially not when it puts Melita solely at risk. She reaches for the closest discarded weapon from one of the failed attacks from herself and Darkeye, tugging insistently with her magic and directing whatever she can find at the landshark in hopes of spearing it with any of their fallen metal. And she prays, useless as that has always been for her.
