For all her efforts, of which there’d been many, the moment Tal was struck once more, and subsequently announced his intentions, the Caretaker was all for it.

Without any sign or semblance of the eye, or fellow animals, all her stalwart determination sunk and simmered. They weren’t prepared. They hadn’t been enough for this moment. Even though the courier probably couldn’t see her in the periphery of smoke and fire, she nodded just the same.

And then it was a flurry of pink wings, intending to streak over infernos and creatures, over the whims that had led them all here, and back out into safety.

What a sick irony, that the dice ensure that Talyson and Lena are phenomenal in their attempts to escape the fiery platform. Perhaps it really isn't meant to be, because it's precisely this sort of luck that would have secured them the eyeball they've been looking for.

Alas.

Rather elegantly, it must be said, the duo leap and fly back through the Eye of Fire and back out into the centre of the labyrinth. The flames in the bowl still shimmer strangely, as if beckoning them back in.
