I’ve dreamed of losing you, of course - but this time, it was me who didn’t come home.” Because she wasn’t strong enough. “I just wanted to remind myself that I’m, I don’t know, capable?” It’s a lame and ineloquent ending, and her mother would have had a fit if she ever heard such a phrase in Evie’s mouth, but there’s only the two of them out here in the Fangs.
