From being an Abandoned who had rarely left the Hollowed Grounds, to embracing the call of adventure, to dying and being reborn first as an Ascended and then as an Ancient, Maea has gone through quite the amount of changes in her life. One thing remains common, though, in her attempts to find out just where she belongs; she’s always had a craving for knowledge which has brought her to so many places and to meet so many people here in Caido. We can’t wait to see what else is in store for her!

Kaiden swam on the edge of the Boondocks, a grimace on their face. They were already sick of this place and the annoying individuals that they kept running into. This place had been nothing but trouble.
It was as they were swimming just a bit beneath the surface that something shiny caught their eye. Kaiden paused for a moment, contemplating. After a second they cautiously swam closer to the surface. Just barely peeking out from the water's edge, they spotted an interesting spear.
Looking quickly at their surroundings, Kaiden realized that there was no on in immediate sight. The spear was in too fine of condition to be abandoned, however. Perhaps someone dropped it? Or they had left it for a moment to complete a task. Regardless, it was too tempting.
The mer quickly reached out of the water and grabbed the spear. As Kaiden's hand closed around the shaft, a twig snapped. The mershark's head turned sharply to lock eyes with a stranger, likely the owner of the spear. Frozen in mid-heist, Kaiden blinked, unsure of their next move.
Darkeye had set up camp near the river. He wanted to scout the area again. As usual, he took care of his weapons and went to the nearest trees to relieve himself and get some firewood.
When he returned, he saw a creature he had never seen before. A hand reaching for his beloved spear, the Iron leaf. "Don't even think about it" he said very calmly but he let go of the firewood and ran as fast as he could in the direction of the river. Hopefully, the creature wouldn't just dive with him, he needed it again. He had gotten it from frey and now he should lose it. That was not fair.
When Kaiden saw the man swiftly approaching, they startled. Their hand tightened around the spear, and they quickly dove under the water before the man could reach them.
Swimming a few feet away, the resurfaced and pointed the spear at the man who had likely reached the shore by now. "I'm thinking about it." They taunted before adding, "Maybe think next time before leaving your precious shit lying about." The mershark grinned, running a finger over the shaft of the spear, "I like this. I think I'll keep it."
A spear would be useful for hunting larger fish. Usually, such creatures required Kaiden's shark form to catch. This would make things easier. Hopefully.
It didn't take long for the shark to disappear. Sharks and Darkeye did not have a good connection. Every time he and the sharks met, something went wrong. It seemed almost as if the gods of fate wanted to make fun of it.
He did not hesitate long and tried to jump after it, but the creature was faster than him. He heard the words of the creature before it swam away, he did not know how to explain it to Frey. He would have to get it back. If necessary, he had to kill sharks again.

Kaiden has stolen Darkeye's Karmic Spear!

Karmic Spear | A finely forged weapon with vines engraved along the hilt. When hitting an enemy, the weapon causes Basic damage, but if hitting an ally, it will give Basic healing instead.
When the man made no indication of responding to their taunting, Kaiden scowled. There went that source of entertainment. With a final mocking scoff, the mer secured the spear and began to swim off. "Bye!" They called over their shoulder one last time before diving beneath the waves.
What a prize! When they reached a suitable depth some meters away, Kaiden paused to properly inspect the spear. It was of excellent quality, possibly even magical. They would have fun testing it out by hunting dinner. Spotting a school of fish in the distance, the mer took off to do just that.
