Unable to communicate much more than wary suspicion, Everest reduces the volume of his growls though they don't disappear entirely. Even when his friend has the moss stowed in the jar and away in his bag, still the shepherd eyes it with distrust, sniffing haughtily at the air as his hackles remain slightly raised.
Huffing a note of agreement, rather than shifting, Ever picks up his bag with his teeth and trots back down the path that will eventually lead them to Mateo's schooner. There's something about being a canine that drastically lowers the Hart boy's anxiety levels, and though he isn't one to be selfish, he doesn't think Mateo will mind terribly if he remains like this until they reach the little boat.
