"You first!" Tal shot back. His confidence had always been greater than his ability to follow through (insert something about his ego writing checks that his body couldn't cash here), but he'd been getting slowly better over the seasons, improving in fits and starts until he could almost live up to his own hype.
Almost.
But he wasn't quite there yet.
He scowled at Sah's smirk, his good humor fading a little as the hunter capitalized on his skill good luck. "Just givin' you a handicap," he boldly declared, lying through his own teeth as he attempted to circle around and pin his partner's arms.
He got his weapon hand back in the process, at least, though it meant his maneuver was foiled. Still, it meant that he was at Sah's back with a free blade even if his knife was still in front of the other man, and Tal wasn't about to pass up the opportunity to duck low and attempt to draw his blade back towards himself, scoring a matching line over Sah's ribs if the other man didn't twist away in time.
