Alys took another bite of her stew, enjoying the chunky vegetables and bits of meat that flavored the broth. Distracted, she didn't bother to summon a new illusion. If Tal needed more, she'd return her attention to it after they ate. As she devoured her food and her stomach began to fill, she began to feel better. She really shouldn't go so long without eating.
Her brows knit together and her nose wrinkled at Tal's suggestion. "A storyteller?" she asked, pursing her lips. Well, he wasn't wrong exactly, but there was more to it than that. She just didn't know how to put it into words.
Which, she supposed, was the point, really.
Biting her lip in concentration, she summoned a tiny person on the table. Its features were indistinct and blurred - clearly an illusion - but it was discernible as a person all the same. "I want to be... more than that," she said softly as her illusion toddled toward an illusory cliff. "Nothing wrong with storytellers, but I want to - to give advice, and show people things that maybe they've never considered about themselves. I don't - I don't know how to explain." The person took a step off the cliff - only to walk across an invisible bridge to get to the other side.
"Like that," she said in reference to the illusion. "To describe someone on the brink of a new journey, to encourage them to take the first step into the unknown. But -" A swirl of darkness rose from the depths of her illusion, snaking around the person ominously. "- to remind them to look before they leap, so to speak." Alys was at the end of her power. The illusion flickered and went out.
