if you don't terrify people a little then what's the point
Deimos’ eyes widened as it became clear that he’d made it through – expectations not high on this venture. Regardless if luck (because that was probably all it was), fortune, or some training had harkened back to these abilities, he’d made it to the next round.

Shrugging his shoulders at those looking at him, because his explanations were slim, he swallowed down all the other hesitations and notions, watching as the rope lowered once more. Figuring, as he took his place in line again, that this would be the time he’d be out.

So, as others flickered and lowered themselves one right after the next, he did the same, gritting his teeth the entire way.
