Now, now. While Channelling can be useful for a lot of things, it cannot be used to win yourself a little Drop, Talyson, or to even channel Tanau himself. (And spoiler alert: it doesn't). But as it happens, the Courier hasn't actually asked to win, and as Melita shimmies her way successfully beneath the rope for a final time, it's up to Tal to match and beat her. Which, if you haven't guessed yet, does not happen - but as far as fails go, he looks spectacular doing it.
Just as Tal loses his footing and nearly takes a tumble onto his arse, an eruption of small fire spirits gather about him like a swarm of literal fireflies, supporting him back into a standing position. The rainbow rope becomes golden hands, a dark mop of hair and a smiling, handsome face, and Tanau offers him a nod of encouragement. "A valiant effort," he informs Tal as the Courier's channeled spirits fizzle away. "And very noble of you, to concede to the lady."
Is that what had happened, really? Would Melita at all appreciate the sentiment?
