There was just that, for one: his reputation as a man who could get to things that were otherwise inaccessible - for a price, of course. There was his reputation for discretion, his penchant for secrets - after all, he needed to be able to find the things his clients wanted, didn't he? And there was, perhaps, a certain reputation for being, as Hotaru had so easily surmised, a dangerous man.
In other words, it sounded like Hotaru would be more likely to add to his reputation than to tarnish it.

Either way, he used his other hand to shield his eyes as he looked up the beach, getting his bearings for where they were in relation to various waypoints with which he was familiar. "There's a little bar not too far up the beach, if a drink's what you're after," he suggested. It was popular with the locals, but he knew the owner, and he usually got a good deal on his drinks as a result.
