Despite the way they chatted and even goofed around, the roof was coming along nicely. Noah worked just as hard as he ever would shoulder to shoulder with the warden whether the circumstances be battle, jest, or work. It was all the same to him, really — a growing of their bond as friends and brothers, gaining understanding of one another, and completing tasks with efficiency.
Once the last shingle Noah had was nailed in, he rocked back on his heels again. ”Korbin was Weaver’s little brother. My baby brother Zeke and Korbin were inseparable until the portal opened. Then Zeke took off. Korbin was too loyal, so he stuck around. When Weaver died, we got really close.” Noah wiped his hands on his pants before placing his thicker gloves back on over his thinner gloves that were better for working in. Huffing out a breath as if to move himself on from the trauma, he gave a smile to the Sword.
”I’ll see you at the house soon, then?” Noah asked, though his question sounded more like a statement and was eventuated by a lifting of his eyebrow. Then, without hesitation, Noah proofed away off the roof and reappeared on his front doorstep, though that part the Sword wouldn’t be able to see.
