'Cause sometimes we don't really notice just how good it can get
so maybe we should start all over
Whatever response lies on the tip of her tongue withers and dies as he shoots her that roguish grin. It's like something straight out of one of her memories, or perhaps more recently one of her dreams. It makes it nearly impossible to think or breathe or - or not show that she's having difficulty doing exactly that. Instead, she can only join in belatedly to his amusement over the secret she has shared. Her cheeks betray her by taking on a light shade of rose as she is struck like a bird from the sky by the arrow of his smile. "Yes. Her poor brother has no clue, given he's not exactly the brightest man and is often away on long hunts. I would pity him, but he's a dullard with little reverence for his wife." Leaning halfway across the table - and nearly at risk of getting syrup on her blouse - Ru's eyes practically glitter with the excitement of sharing this with him. "It's what she complains about the most at the spa; he never treats her anymore, barely reciprocates during sex, and forgets birthdays and anniversaries frequently." All things Hotaru would support leaving him for but clearly the woman had chosen infidelity instead. Expression turning mischievous and nearly downright salacious, Ru giggles, "I suppose his sister believed she could provide better." And Hotaru has been eagerly awaiting the day it all comes to light.

Hoping by now her pulse has returned to normal after having been so dazzled by the life she sees in him, Ru turns her forearm slightly to help precipitate the way his hand slides back into hers and settles there, familiar even after all this time. The type to be easily distracted away from food, Hotaru has to remind herself to eat once she notices he has finished and crosses her ankles comfortably below the table - brushing up against his leg with her bare calf in a companionable measure of closeness. "We had them create hot springs in the Fangs, and now we're working on making the waters restorative." More interesting than a fountain if she says so herself. "It has involved a lot of magical purifying of the waters and collecting herbs on my own part. As well as a large party traveling through the regions collecting various plants as well, poor sods." She had distinctly not volunteered for that given how long the expedition had taken and did not regret that at all.
start all over again
Hotaru
Hotaru has a passive magic that makes her glow with an internal golden light; it makes her appear youthful and her hair seems to look like moving sunlight. Can only subtly illuminate dark spaces.
