"Ok - this time, do it with your hand open, palm thrusting up at my chin. Like you really, really want to get me to shut my mouth." He demonstrates the move with one de-gloved hand. "It's a good way to gain leverage against a taller opponent, and can startle and hurt like a bitch."
He raises an eyebrow at the comment of a real opponent, amused but not surprised to find her eager to go further. Until she suddenly decides she wants to pursue something else, a very uncharitable voice in his mind states. "The goal of good self-defense is to avoid getting to the point where you're getting hit back," Koa points out, but gamely removes the other sparring glove, revealing wrapped hands. "Sure, though. We can practice real fighting."
