From being an Abandoned who had rarely left the Hollowed Grounds, to embracing the call of adventure, to dying and being reborn first as an Ascended and then as an Ancient, Maea has gone through quite the amount of changes in her life. One thing remains common, though, in her attempts to find out just where she belongs; she’s always had a craving for knowledge which has brought her to so many places and to meet so many people here in Caido. We can’t wait to see what else is in store for her!

"She is an actress playing the role of Juliet, who is a child. There's a big difference," Ronin says, sounding annoyingly reasonable about the whole thing. "And besides, you have no idea how many sins she might have committed up to now. Her soul might already be damned." And this would be a hilarious joke to keep up if it weren't for the imminent start to the play, honestly.
Stepping into the box as if he's been there dozens of times before (because he has, in various times and iterations of himself), Ronin accepts the bottle of red wine one of the ushers presents him with, and nods to the angel beside him for some champagne to be placed in an ice bucket at Remi's disposal. "Right, something like that." He rolls his eyes, sitting himself down in his seat and relaxing instantly.
"I also happen to know the theatre owner, which helps."
"That doesn't mean there isn't still time for redemption." Remi hastily adds, not wanting to interrupt per se but nearly doing so just the same. As the theatre lights flicker, any further argument dies on the angel's lips. He takes his seat, managing somehow to appear both polite and infinitely bothered (which is to say, British).
With the stem of his glass clutched in one hand, Remi nervously smoothes down the pleat in his pants with the other, all the while attempting to surreptitiously eye Ronin. Failing utterly in his endeavour, the angel sighs in defeat, leaning over slightly to avoid having to shout above the opening orchestral movement. "You didn't really, did you? Surely it would smell of more than just cinnamon if someone's life was at stake?"

Curling his lip at the idea of redemption but offering little more on the subject thanks to the dimming of the overhead lights, Ronin sips at his wine and gets comfortable. (That is to say, boneless and all but sprawled out in his seat, his wine glass held casually between his fingers). Indeed, he's almost absorbed by the familiar orchestral overtures when Remi leans over, and Ronin shifts to hear him without ever letting his eyes leave the stage.
"No, of course I didn't - I just ripped a page out of some guy's book," he says easily enough, shrugging at Remi. "I wouldn't want to wreck the performance with something like that; I'm a demon, not a barbarian."
"Oh thank Heaven." Remi murmurs, visibly slouching back into his seat before starting and sharply glancing back over at Ronin. Deciding that, if the girl was safe it wasn't worth arguing over a torn page, the angel exhales softly before leaning back against his chair.
Perfectly upright compared to Ronin's boneless slouch, the angel begins to mouth the dialogue of the play as it begins, not missing a single syllable. Full of expression and wonder, if the performance below is at all heightened, all the more fortuitous for those in attendance. Though the angel is by no means comfortable in the box with Ronin, he does allow himself to refill his champagne glass once during the performance. Maybe twice.
As Romeo and Juliet's secret wedding is planned, the lights rise to signal intermission, leaving Remi with a love-struck expression that's as angelic as can be. "Ah." Placing a hand over his heart, the angel sighs theatrically. "Now if only it would just end here, mmm?"

Ronin does not mouth the dialogue, despite absolutely knowing it as well as Remi does, though if he does glance surreptitiously towards the angel at his side now and then, so be it. And considering that the minor angelic influence does make it more enjoyable for everyone in attendance, himself included, he leaves it be. Call it balance for the book thing, right?
Quietly pensive as the lights rise, he shifts in his seat and tilts his head companionably towards the other man. "Mmm," he says, and it's unclear whether or not it's strictly an agreement. "If it had ended there, I wonder whether the play would have become as famous as it did." The masses love a tragedy, or something like that.
It's why hangings and beheadings have been popular for centuries.
' Yes well. Humans really aren't good at knowing quite when to quit, are they?' He wonders with a touch of melancholy before raising his glass to his lips only to discover that it was somehow empty. Clearing his throat casually and setting the glass down with a little smile, the angel peers down over the balcony as the patrons milled about below.
Just as he was turning back to say something about how much he appreciated seeing the play from Ronin's vantage point, a blood-curdling scream warbled out from behind the curtain only seconds before the entire thing was torn down. Several stunned actors gaped blankly for a few seconds, before the sounds of accusations and warnings trumpeted out.
'Oh dear.' Remi murmured, reaching under his chair for his program as if this might all simply be some sort of unexpected intermission-entertainment.

"It's one of my favourite things about them. Tenacious little bastards," Ronin says with a lopsided smile, raising an eyebrow at the angel's empty glass - and the mostly empty bottle, too. Saying nothing but feeling as smug as his expression suggests, he's about to ask whether or not Remi would like to simply finish the champagne when they're interrupted, rudely, by reality.
The angel reaches for his program but Ronin is on his feet, brows furrowed as he leans against the balconette to try and spot the source of the disturbance. "They usually save that for when the audience is back in their seats," he mutters. "You don't sense anything nefarious by chance, do you?"
"But they could be so much happier if they could just let things be." The angel argued, though it was without much enthusiasm.
Glancing up, his eyes drawn immediately to the demon's behind, Remi raises the program hastily to cover his eyes (and the flushing of his cheeks). "Perhaps they're trying something new?" The angel guesses. "Maybe the wanted something more effective than just flashing the lights?" Doubtful, he stands as well.
'Other than you, you mean?' Eyeing his counterpart with a raised brow, Remi turns back to the stage and sniffs delicately. "It smells a bit like burning hair." He mumbles. Burning hair of course could be a sign of one of two things: something nefarious, or hair burning nearby.
"Do you think we should go take a peek?"

"Then they wouldn't be human," Ronin fires back, though his voice is somewhat muffled by the way he's leaning precariously out over the balconette to try and scowl through the curtains. (It does nothing for his perception and everything for his backside, incidentally). "And I'm not sure what they were hoping for, but it does seem to have been effective." If the effect they were going for was 'vague panic' from the audience, anyway.
Shifting back and straightening out his suit jacket, Ronin rolls his shoulders and offers his counterpart a haughty look. "I am hardly nefarious right now," he informs him. "I'd say crooked at best." But that's besides the point - he's quite certain there's no hair burning in their immediate vicinity, though that doesn't rule it out, and he finds himself nodding and already heading for the exit to their box.
"If it is anything diabolical, I suppose you'll get your wish. About the play ending there, I mean."
