As Noah ventured further into the Hollowed Grounds, the surroundings grew increasingly unfamiliar, casting shadows on his path. The tales of a sentient labyrinth had always been spoken of in hushed tones. Now, as he stood before it, the stories seemed all too real.

The maze stood tall and imposing, its emerald walls soaring well above his head. Its sheer magnitude was enough to leave anyone in awe, but there was something else that set it apart. The air around the maze seemed to vibrate with an otherworldly energy, and the hushed whispers of the wind carried a faint, eerie melody. It was as if the very essence of the maze pulsed with a life of its own.

Noah cautiously stepped closer. He could feel the eyes of the maze upon him, though there were no visible observers.

The labyrinthine pathways twisted and turned in intricate patterns, creating a mesmerizing mosaic of greenery. Each leafy corridor beckoned him with a siren's call, promising secrets and revelations if he dared to navigate its winding trails. Noah, determined to know the Hollowed Grounds inside and out, ventured on.

As he ventured deeper, the maze seemed to come alive. The hedges shifted and rearranged themselves, blocking off paths he had just passed through, while creating new ones that hadn't been there moments before. It was as though the maze was toying with him, testing his wits and resolve. Noah felt a growing sense of unease, wondering if he would ever find his way out.

The sentient maze, it seemed, had a mind of its own. The soft, haunting melody in the air grew louder, filling his ears with an ethereal tune that echoed with ancient wisdom. He couldn't help but feel as though the maze itself was communicating with him, a silent exchange of knowledge and understanding.

Plants Before People
Farrow walked slowly through the long stretch of hedge maze, *labyrinth*, she reminded herself, humming a soft tune. She let one hand graze the leaves of the hedge wall beside her. Her brow furrowed as she stopped to look at the thick green foliage. The leaves, oblong and hearty, were colored a deep green, ghostly veins webbing through the fiber.

They looked perfectly healthy in her palm, but rustled loudly and prickled her skin like they had been without water and were drying out. It was a mystery to her, she had hopped over puddles and waded through stretches of ankle deep water, the sprawling entity must have enough water. And yet...

Farrow startled as a great dry rasping erupted behind her. She whirled around, her heel snapping a small thing behind her and causing the end of her intricate braid to smack her soundly in the face.

As she rubbed at the small welt on her forehead, she looked up, just in time to see a large person step through a new opening in the labyrinth wall.

Noah's eyes widened as he saw the woman. Her presence in the ever-shifting maze was unexpected, and he couldn't help but feel a mixture of surprise and relief. At least in this eerie place he wasn't alone. "Hello." He said, voice drumming with kindness. Without another word, he offered a friendly nod, acknowledging her presence in the maze and the shared sense of wonder and intrigue.

Drawing closer, Noah couldn't help but notice the fine details of Farrow's appearance—her disheveled braid, the small welt on her forehead, and the determination etched in her features. The rustling leaves of the hedge walls and the enigmatic melody in the air seemed to hold their breath, but the dripping sounds of the ceaseless rain continued in his ears and throughout the labyrinth. "I've heard this place is almost alive." Noah articulated, if only to start conversation between the two of them that clearly indicated he wasn't here to hurt her.
