It is done.

It's taken them through the harshest of the seasons (for the Ancients at least) and into the dreariest Flowerbirth that the Grounds has apparently ever experienced, but fuck, it's done.

Shaking the rain from his fair hair as he ducks into the cavern, Danta makes a beeline for the crystalline crevice where he'd last heard his mother's whispers.

"Dygra," he all but purrs, dropping reverently to his knees and reaching out to grasp the sharp ruby clusters, letting blood well between his fingers. "We've done all that you asked. The bonfire is prepared and ready to receive your touch."

Turning in the RQ given in mother may I

1. A PQ with at least 3 Grounders collecting suitable firewood & kindling within the Grounds - Danta, Raelyn, Fox, {PQ} {RQ} from the fallen tree
2. A thread collecting gemstones from Soulfire Reach - Ophelia & Danta, {RQ} all that glitters
3. A thread collecting volcanic ash from Apopo - Fox & Kiada, {RQ} dust to dust
4. A thread leaving an offering for Tanau somewhere within The Climb - Kiada & Danta, double double double down
5. A thread with 3 Grounders building the bonfire in its desired location, incorporating the gemstones, kindling and ash - without lighting it yet - Danta, Kiada, Fox, {RQ} spark-a-dark

Dygra

Danta's blood streams and flows over the rubies in a way that almost seems unnatural, as if the gems are drinking it up, accepting the offering and beaming all the brighter for it. "You have done so well, sweet, dark boy," Dygra purrs to him from within the crevice, and already the stone wall before the Ancient will feel warmer to the touch, heat rolling from it.

"All you need now is a little spark. One I am content to provide. Let the Grounds thrive for you, for your brothers and your sisters..."

Danta won't see it of course, but up in the Inner Quarter where the well-built (if not sad and wet) bonfire has been prepared, a single spark ignites it from within. Fire rolls and pours over the branches, catching but not consuming, burning brightly against even the harshest of the downpours. And it will burn, and burn, and burn.

The Hollowed Grounds has completed its RQ and has received the following upgrade:

Everlasting Bonfire | A large (10 square feet), open air bonfire stands in the centre of the Inner Quarter. Glittering with a rainbow of assorted gemstones, it requires no fuel to keep burning, and will not go out regardless of wind, rain, snow or any other adverse weather.

This will be added to the description of the Inner Quarter.

Preening under her compliments, Danta takes whatever affection Dygra is willing to provide. And while he doesn't see the bonfire ignite, something deep inside himself knows that it has happened. Some tension he didn't know was there eases from his shoulders, and he turns his face to the shining rubies with a fanged smile.

"Thank you, mother. We will do you proud," he vows, lingering there against the heated stone as if to relish the memory of home. Only once the cold begins to creep back in does Danta rise to his feet and make his exit from the shrine, licking the drying blood from between his fingers.
