The day that Noah had called upon people to help mend the healer's unit of the Temple had not gone well. In fact, it had gone all terribly wrong. With the tension between him and Bart, the nuisance of Goose, and the infestation of bats, the work had all been for none. The three men and the dog had barely made a dent in all the work that needed to be done.

So here Noah was, standing with gathered supplies, feeling like he was starting over again.

This time the Forsaken came equipped with what he thought they would need to repair and fix anything broken, plus a shipment of medical supplies Talyson was able to get him from Halo. He kept himself busy with sweeping as he waited for his help to arrive.

This is a PQ to refurbish the medical wing of the temple! This is a restart part two to this thread: feel the essence fill the void which did not finish.

Asra made a pit stop to rest in the Grounds after investigating the crater to rest up and restock her supplies. It's as she is making a purchase that she's informed about the medical wing's refurbishment. The Attuned is in need of more bandages anyway. Perhaps she should help? Trouble, perching on her shoulder, makes the final call. The young griffin flies ahead, letting out a trill to urge his bonded forward.

With a sigh and a fond smile, Asra makes her way over. Spotting an unfamiliar man sweeping, she locks eyes with Noah. "Are you the one leading the refurbishment? I'm here to help." Trouble flies circles around her as she speaks, his wide eyes taking in the new location.

The courier had been happy to bring fresh medical supplies packed in the Peregrine's hold on the Caido world tour he was on with Alys, just waiting for them to arrive in the Grounds for delivery. Given the Sentinel's assistance with his own post office endeavors, Tal didn't mind showing up to return the favor.

The two Halovians arrived with companions in tow, Tal carrying a second box of medical supplies and trying not to trip over the playful dragon and tiny ursur romping in the mud. Peering through the falling rain, he perked up at seeing Noah holding down the fort.

"Hey Noah!" he called, followed by a swift, quiet oath as Boreal raised her head and then trotted forward to sniff at Asra 's pockets with her best I'm a very good dragon and no one ever feeds me or pets me or gives me treats look of draconic woe. "Boreal, leave her alone!" he called, exasperated. "Uh, sorry 'bout that." As he slipped inside he tried to nudge his companion out of the way with his hip so Alys could get in out of the rain, too.

"This's the last o' the supplies from Halo," he called to Noah, shaking back the hood of his poncho. "Where d'you want 'em?"

Gods, but it was wet in the Hollowed Grounds. Alys couldn't remember ever having seen so much rain, and she'd lived there for years. So it was that she eyed their surroundings with a frown and a glare, her brow knitted with confusion. "Hey, Noah," she called as she followed Tal through the door. "Has it, uh - has it been raining like this all season?"

Sascha, eager to follow Boreal and picking up on the dragon's habits, ambled up to the stranger to join her in sniffing Asra's pockets. "Sascha," Alys called, exasperated. "Come back here. Sorry," she added with a smile at the stranger. "She'd picking up bad habits from this one's companion." And she nudged Tal's shoulder playfully with her own.

Noah looked up from his sweeping as a stranger approached. He offered her a broad smile, ready to introduce himself when his friends came. His smile warmed at their presence, and he nodded to all of them. ”Thank you all for coming.” Noah set his broom aside and brushed his hands against each other, ready to start again in the medical wing. He lifted his brow at Alys. ”Yeah, it has. Awful. There was some flooding before, which is why there will be a lot of people here in the temple. We set up some temporary spots for people to stay in.” He frowned, gesturing out towards the main part of the temple where the people gathered during the day.

”To start, we need to move these medical supplies to their proper place. Also, there is a room where humming bats made their home for far too long. That will need to be totally cleaned out and sanitized before we can restore it to its proper function.” He remembered how Bart yelled at being surprised by the bats, and how Goose had terrorized the creatures. Frightened nearly to death, they hadn’t returned, but the evidence of their history was still present. Bart had never finished cleaning it up, after all.

Alys winced at Noah's response, glancing over her shoulder and out the door into the endless rain. The Grounds weren't built for such sustained weather, and somewhere in the back of her mind, a part of her wondered if her family was okay. But that was a worry for another day, and the seer focused her attention instead on the tasks at hand. It wasn't like her family would be keen to see her, anyway.

Alys took stock of the tasks presented. She longed to stock rooms with new medical supplies, but that would be useless if the rooms weren't clean. So she gave an inward sigh and gathered some cleaning materials, making her way into the bat room. There, she started from the top of the walls and worked her way down, before doing the same with the windows.

A brief look of outrage flashed across the courier's face as Alys nudged him, but it was followed immediately by guilt and a rueful exasperation. "Yeah, yeah, blame it on the messenger. Everyone always does, anyways," he grumped, but there was a grin tugging at the corners of his mouth as he nudged his friend back. "Talyson Seawright, and that's Boreal," he added, introducing himself to Asra before turning back to Noah.

Bats, huh? Bats weren't so bad... but their guano certainly was. Tal wrinkled his nose and frowned in resignation at the task but he didn't flee back out into the rain. It had to be done, and Noah's explanation of who was using the Temple and why had him ducking his head to hide his wince at the same time Alys did.

And like Alys, he looked down at the crate of supplies in his arms longingly. He enjoyed organizing things and putting everything in its proper place. There would have been a certain meditative comfort to that task, but...

Hail. He couldn't leave Alys to tackle the bat room alone. With a long-suffering sigh the courier set the box aside for whichever lucky helper got to do the stocking, and then he rolled up his sleeves and followed his fellow Halovian. On the downside, the furniture was, in fact, a mess. On the upside, sticking it outside the in rain would do a good job of sluicing off the worst of it, so he held his breath and set about shifting the furniture outside for a wash.

Tal moves the furniture out of the bat room and into the rain to get sluiced off!

The others are clearly acquainted but before Asra can introduce herself, she has a dragon and young cub at her feet. Letting out a soft chuckle she reaches out to give both pats on the head, "Well, hello there." Trouble dives down and hovers above the other two companions, letting out an excited yip. The kit gives a shake and the rain from his fur is flung off into Boreal's and Sascha's faces. Noticing his mistake, Trouble dives down and tries to lick the worst of it off of the two with a flurry of apologetic trills.

As the companions get to know each other Asra finally turns her attention back to the people, "Hello. I am Asra. It is good to meet you all." With a soft glance back at Trouble, she adds, "Your companions are precious."

The work begins and despite not being one to shy away from a mess, there are too many people heading towards the bat room. Far too many for such an enclosed space in Asra's opinion. Picking up the first batch of medical supplies she nods at the others before making her way over to start stocking the rooms. She does her best to be meticulous in her organization and in labeling everything. If any place should be well organized, a place of medicine was it.

Maybe there was some anxiety buried deep within Asra? Maybe there was decision paralysis because of how meticulous and perfect she wanted everything to be? Whatever it was, for some reason the griffin had a terrible time with the supplies. Drawers stuck, she dropped things, and just all over was a mess.

Talyson had the most success of anyone. Apparently, he was really good at moving furniture. He hauled each piece outside and brushed off those that couldn’t withstand the rain. In his work, there wasn’t much room for improvement.

Alys had good success as well. Perhaps she had plenty of experience dealing with humming bat droppings? Whatever it was, her task was light and easy. Nothing compared to Noah, who struggled to be able to scrub the remainder of the humming bat evidence from the floors. They were porous and held on tight to whatever they wanted, and for some reason they wanted humming bat shit.

Talyson - Finish cleaning the WET furniture and replacing it in the room.
Alys - Help Talyson dry and move the furniture.
Asra - try again, baby. Those med supplies…well that’s hard.
Noah - Keep trying on those floors, bub. You suck.

"Yeah, she knows," Tal agreed with Asra's statement of fact with a face that couldn't decide on a scowl of fond exasperation or a rueful grin, and probably ended up looking like some shade of constipated as he finally pulled the dragon back to his side and knelt to give her horns a good fussing before he went to work. Freed from her human's scritches, Boreal was more than happy to go about acquainting herself with Trouble, not minding the earlier shower in the least since she was already wet.

The courier was pleased that for once he didn't trip or break something on accident. It wasn't fun work; everything stank of guano and he walked in and out of the Temple with his nose permanently wrinkled and his mouth hovering on the edge of its old scowl, but at least he managed to keep most of the mess off of himself. He eventually dug a good scrub brush out of Noah's supplies and got to work cleaning off what the rain alone couldn't wash away before bringing the furniture back inside and setting it near the fire for Alys to dry.

"Uh... We can put th'furniture back as soon as you're done," he offered to Noah, giving the Sentinel a look of deep-suffering empathy for his predicament with the floors. "Don't want it t'get in your way!"

Sascha, already damp from the pouring rain outside, was unbothered by Trouble's wet introduction. She merely batted playfully at the griffin with one large paw, then settled down with the other companions to play while her bonded went to work. Alys, for her part, was successful with her task despite her lack of experience with humming bats and their droppings. In the end, it was just cleaning, and that she could do in her sleep.

Noah, it seemed, had the worst luck of the group in trying to clean the floor, and Alys eyed him sympathetically as she moved to help Tal with the furniture. With the damp furniture sitting by the fire, she took dry cloths and began to wipe them down, hoping to speed up the drying process. Once a piece was dry, she and Tal scooted it out of the way to replace it with the next piece, until eventually - hopefully - they had a collection of clean, dry furniture to move when Noah and Asra were ready.

Asra stands and regards the mayhem with a stern look. It seems her expertise does not lie with organization. Part of the issue might be the never-ending waves of glee and excitement that kept flooding through the bond. It's nice to feel Trouble having fun with other companions, even if it is distracting. Perhaps they would need to visit the main cities more often. Crowds were irritating but for Trouble, she'd deal.

Taking a deep breath, she recenters herself and tries again. Asra once more strives for a robust and practical organization method. Yet she makes sure to take her time and go slow. Labels are double-checked and boxes are secured with care. She hopes that her efforts will pay off.

The wind didn't stop the rain and the rain didn't stop the wind. As such, tangleweed still blew about the grounds. the furniture from the medical wing of the temple was the perfect dam to hold up the weeds as they were being pushed by the gusts of wind.

As Talyson went out for the last piece of furniture, he would notice something perculiar. A bright, pulsing purple tangleweed wrapped its long tendrils around the last physician's chair, trying to devour and digest. What Tal didn't notice, was the tiny piece of void tangleweed trapped between a cushion and frame of the previous piece of furniture he took to Alys. Alys, unfortunately, noticed it when she grabbed the cushion to flip it over, palming the coin-sized tangleweed in all of its glowing, void glory.

Asra, on the other hand, did an excellent job! Able to carefully organize the supplies in a much more efficient fashion than before, the griffin did not take too long to finish her task.

Noah, putting his nose to the grindstone, finished up working on his task as well. The floors damn near sparkled by the time the demigod was finished with them.

The Halovian friends seem to be doing an ok job with the furniture, until...

Talyson has found void tangleweed trying to eat the last chair! Alys has grabbed a coin-sized void tangleweed.

Asra finished putting away the supplies.

Noah & Asra - Now they can either help move furniture, or help Alys!
Talyson - What will you do with the tangleweed?

Void Tangleweed (infected variant - Hollowed Ground): The normally spherical and sentient Tangleweed has been corrupted by the void. Its limbs, once resembling branches, now writhe with shadowy tendrils. Touching the Void Tangleweed not only induces numbness but also opens a temporary connection to the void, causing unsettling visions and hallucinations.

Asra tilts her chin up as she eyes the organized stock with satisfaction. It was far more difficult a task than she expected but she's finally done. Leaving the infirmary, she spots Alys and a strange tangleweed. Whistling for Trouble she swiftly walks over, "Have you been harmed?" She has a terrible feeling about this. Something is clearly wrong with the plant and the energy it gives off sends shivers down her spine.

Trouble bursts in as Asra scans the Abandoned for anything out of the ordinary. With a pointed look at the tangleweed, she sends her companion clear instructions through the bond. With a trill, the young griffin swoops over the weed. Using a carefully precise burst of fire, Trouble tries to burn the weed without harming Alys.
