When ashes fall
Massive, keen eyes were open to more than before, when they were human eyes, and thus Noah saw the geckos before they swarmed. Hissing his displeasure — or was it disappointment it wasn’t something more dangerous? — the basilisk simply flopped.

His incredible body came crashing to the jungle floor with every intention to squash the geckos that spilled from the undergrowth and meant harm to his comrades. He thrashed some, careful to avoid Deimos and Maea, in an attempt to demolish each and every gecko. His hiss stung the trees and shook the thick, green leaves — a clear warning to anything else that might decide to come their way.

DEIMOS
what tried to destroy you
didn't have the strength
Deimos rolled his gaze at Maea’s response – having believed her fully capable of using her own two eyes. “The lizards,” he pointed out as they skittered along – now properly on fire, and in danger of being squished by Noah’s over-enthusiastic bulk. “Noah’s shift is a basilisk. It can turn those who look at it into stone.” For how long, the Sword couldn’t recall – not something he wanted to be subjected to, at the very least.

Maea must’ve quickly realized the situation at hand anyway, as she stomped on the one desperately clawing its way along her pants – though the chakram’s emboldened stance missed, just barely, skimming over the hazardous scales. The lizard quickly dispersed, only to be immediately run over by Noah.

The Warden might’ve laughed – withholding a chuckle – because the situation was becoming all the more ridiculous in the moment. He directed his fire towards the frozen creature, figuring it’d be easy to consume and end, before directing his attention to the others.

Two were gone – which left one audacious cretin beelining for Noah’s tail, clearly intending to nip and bite and scratch and tear, while another had decided on the cautious route, and was attempting an escape off to the right.

Maea has missed Gecko Two, but Noah has smashed it anyway. Deimos has set Gecko One on fire and it’s also much dead.

Gecko Three is attempting to bite Noah, and Gecko Four is opting for an escape. What will you do next? No post order!

I'll drown eventually so don't save me
"Much better."

Whether she figured the situation out on her own or not was beside the point, communication was key and reticent grunts could be saved for people who had worked together long enough to understand them, thank you very much. It was still hard to keep her eyes off Noah, given his added serpentine bulk and the earth-shattering thrashing about he engaged in, but it really did help to know why looking was a bad idea. At least she wouldn't die if an accident were to happen.

The same could technically be said about the void geckoloths. That still didn't mean she wanted to get closer to them than necessary, and so when one survivor chose to try and escape into the jungle Maea joined her chakram together, set it spinning around a finger and hurled it at the scampering lizard, aiming as best she could at the finicky target. She was getting a good amount of practice in with the weapon today; enough to note the areas that needed improving upon.

Noah
It creeps in like a thief in the night
Without a sign, without a warning
As geckos met their demise beneath him, scales shifted back to skin and the hunter was climbing to his feet. His assailant, as ruthless as the it was violent despite its stature, came for him. Grunting, Noah merely ignited what he believed would end all of this.

From him, a great dome manifested. Twinkling, brilliant sunlight glittered all around them. His comrades would feel a renewal within themselves that was the unmistakable touch of god-like healing. A gift straight from Vi. The geckos, and any other void creatures lurking close enough for their opportunity to strike, would meet a perilous amount of damage.

Glacier eyes flicked around, expecting and waiting for an injured creature to come barreling towards them from the undergrowth.

DEIMOS
what tried to destroy you
didn't have the strength
In between setting masses ablaze, Deimos rolled his eyes at Maea’s comment, but said nothing further. She’d been capable of drawing out the obvious, and while Noah probably should have been capable of eliciting further warnings, the notions had been made and scattered amidst the clearing.

The Ancient’s chakram marched on its own blinding path, cutting and slicing through the chosen geckoloth with a wondrous and newfound precision; the lizard stilled immediately before being followed up with the Sword’s flames.

The little lizard’s aggression had been noteworthy and surprising, especially coming for Noah in his massive bulk, size, and shift. The Warden would note it later, amidst the mass of other experiences with the void cretins. Regardless, the Forsaken’s divine efforts earned him alterations and success in one fell swoop – and before long all the beasts were dead.

And gone, once another flicker of infernos passed over.

Glancing at their surroundings, and withholding another sigh, Deimos figured they had just enough time to return to the shore before the press of evening. “That went decently," offered with a vague smirk; about as much as one could expect from mauling ridiculous reptiles - they'd at least come out unscathed. "We should start heading back.” Whether or not they would run into something else would amount to some manner of fortune – especially after all the commotion they’d made.

All lizards have been destroyed. Gloat in your success and start heading back! Any other encounters will be decided by dice roll/IC actions. ;D No post order.

Noah
It creeps in like a thief in the night
Without a sign, without a warning
The geckos fell and Noah couldn't help but feel agitated. While he had anticipated the threat larger than it was, it had been almost nothing. As he looked from Maea to Deimos, with the sun closing down over them, he wanted to go home. With a heavy sigh, he made the turn to leave, his steps carrying him away from the tangled undergrowth and back towards where they had come, and hopefully away from any void creatures.

As Noah trudged through the dense foliage of the jungle,he kept his ears keen. The lush greenery, once a source of intrigue and adventure, now felt suffocating, its oppressive humidity clinging to his skin like a second skin and the idea of any other void creatures lurking in the darkening inkiness made the hairs on the back of his neck stand up.

He wasn't sure how Maea or Deimos felt, but he didn't want to be here any more. Though he tried to keep pace with them, there was a haste in his steps.

Her weapon hit its mark and though she grimaced slightly at the very quick and firey demise of the geckoloths, she also couldn't help celebrating the accuracy of her throw with a little victory dance. Once Deimos had cremated the remains of the void creatures, she went to retrieve her chakram and wiped them clean before putting it away.

Looking yo the sky, she agreed that it was probably a good time to start heading back. "This was fun, we should do it again sometime," she all but chirped to the men. While Noah seemed withdrawn and in a hurry to leave, Maea was completely at ease in the tropic humidity and keep gazing about with keen interest at the unusual foliage that made up the island. She was in an excellent mood; they had done good work, no one got injured, and there were less void creatures around that could cause trouble.

In fact, she was in high enough spirits that she approached Deimos as they went, inquiring about weapon practice and a chance to truly test her skills. Because seize the moment, no time like the present, and all that.

Maea looks at the scenery while they head back and starts up a conversation with Deimos.

DEIMOS
what tried to destroy you

They proceeded carefully, with brief conversations and lulling ventures – some beasts taken care of, and others likely lurking in the shadows. Whether it was the promise of more assaults and sieges to come, their quieter footsteps, or the glimmer of other convictions, no others strayed their way. The trees eventually gave way to the rise and swell of the beach, and the island in the distance – enough to cause his eyes to narrow briefly before returning to conversation with Maea.

But he could tell Noah had had enough, and nodded towards his hunting party members. “Thank you for helping. Hopefully this ease some of the burden,” that Torchline, and many others, were currently facing.

And with that, they could part ways – free to return or train or measure up their countenances again and again.

Hunting party complete! Thank you for the assistance!
