the lullaby

In my pocket, is it? Remi wonders, grinning silently before tilting his head to regard his daughter. "We're a weird family, aren't we." He asks Flora in a low voice, tone flat but eyes sparkling with mischief.

"We are going to have to go lower, but don't worry, I will protect you." He warns Flora, before descending down within 30ft of the landshark. With an expression he was sure his daughter would likely describe as happily constipated, the Bastion reached out with invisible hands seeking the spiritual bones of the shark to try and tether them together.

Though his arms shiver slightly with exertion, it's the inner workings of his soul that flinch with proper effort as he tries to hold the creature steady.

Remi flies within 30ft to use his spiritual grapple. He's still tethered to Ronin and holding Flora.

Magic: Spiritual Grapple | Can reach out with spiritual strength to grapple an opponent’s soul within 30ft. Contested END/LUCK roll. On a successful grapple, gives advantage until his next turn.

There was a familiar pulse within this fight that, even with the addition of Flora, Noah couldn't help but latch on to with a natural instinct. Like with hunters he'd prowled with his whole life, or even with Deimos and Sah, combat at the sides of Ronin and Remi seemed as familiar and easy as putting on a well-fitting jacket.

And how sad that was.

But they were all alive. That counted for something.

Taking the nod from the Nova and the promptings towards Remi over the attuned bond as as much of a formed plan as they had, Noah surged forward. Running on the sands, with excellent dexterity and endurance, the Forsaken only tried to bring himself within 60 feet of the ghostly creature before igniting his Divine Opposition. While there was no need for the healing part of the ability at this time, it was still his most damage-heavy, thus perpetuated its usage.

Noah ties to get within 60 feet of the landshark and uses Divine Opposition.

Magic: Divine Opposition | Noah summons a celestial shield dome in a 60ft radius. Any allies within the shield receive Mastered Healing, and any enemies are damaged at an Mastered level. May be used 3x per thread with a two post cool down.
Type: Light | Rank: Mastered

Magic: Wise Hunter (FEAT) | Animals roll with disadvantage against Noah.
Type: Light | Rank: Basic

Regional Score bonus: +3 in all shrine visits, drops, PQ+s, KQs, etc. (You must post this at the bottom of any post where a +3 should be included)

There are times when the unseen can be even more dangerous than what our eyes behold
How many demigods does it take to screw in a lightbulb manhandle a giant ghost landshark? Three might be a bit overkill, honestly.

Well-practiced in the art of hitting it until it's dead, three more starbolts strike true against the hulking creature from Ronin, and it lets out a ghostly moan that has the ground trembling (granted, only Noah will feel it).

Already orientating itself to try and thrash a fin (or a tail or some teeth, it's not picky) against the Supernova, it seizes for a second or two as something grapples and wrestles against its very essence - and is successful. With Remi holding fast to the shark's soul and its own attack missing by a wide margin, the monster is entirely open for Noah's Divine Opposition.

Honestly, it's starting to feel a bit unfair.

and on to the glory at my right hand
Offering a lopsided smile in Flora's direction at her cheerleading (with advantage, eyo), Ronin raises his hand in a thumbs up before he's forced to float like a butterfly out of the way of a large amount of ghostly landshark.

This thing isn't having a great time, he remarks to his comrades; between the assault from he and Noah and Remi literally tethering its soul in place, it's starting to look like the sort of situation where prolonging the fight is almost sad.

And so, with a beat of draconic wings to keep him airborne, Ronin summons more celestial energy, firing a trio of starbolts directly at the monster to hopefully put it down. (For good, this time).

Ronin fires a third round of three starbolts at the landshark! (With advantage from Remi, thanks babe).

Magic: Shooting Stars | The user may summon celestial energy as a projectile. Control is excellent, and multiple projectiles may be created at once. (In quests or other combat situations requiring dice rolling, only 3 stars may be created per post). Range: 60ft
Type: Light | Rank: Mastered

flora

I mean, this was going great from Flora's perspective. With her dad holding her aloft and with a bottle of wine from her parent's stash in one hand, the Doubletake was rapidly becoming more interested in what part of the ghost landshark she might be able to salvage as a birthday present for her brother, and less concerned about the danger it presented.

Since they had to be close enough for Remi to do...whatever it was he was doing, Flora shrugged against him as she reached for her daggers. Might as well contribute, right?

"SUCK IT." She yelled eloquently before throwing one of her poisoned daggers toward the shark. Maybe she could bring back some sushi for Mateo.

Flora throws a poison-coated dagger, with advantage from Remi (&Ronin if he hits).

the lullaby

Yeah, it... Shifting slightly as his daughter threw one of her daggers, it was with a slight wince that the Bastion kept them both in place. His wasn't necessarily the role of killing anymore, but that didn't mean Mort was the sort of god who would see a creature suffer. Through the attuned bond, his fellow demigods would likely feel the Bastion's distaste for seeing the massive beast suffer, no matter the threat it posed.

With his spiritual grapple in place, Remi tried to hurl the soul from the shark's body rather than simply maintain his grip of it. Perhaps if he was successful he could toss it right back into Mort's realm, or at least far enough away that they could dispatch its body in peace without it needing to feel the pain of dying again.

Still tethered to Ronin. Remi tries to nudge the shark's soul from its body.

Magic: I’ll have what he’s having | Tethers himself to someone and takes all of their damage during an encounter until it’s recast.
Type: Light | Rank: Mastered

Magic: Soul Strike | If successful, knocks the soul out of the body. An out of body soul can't affect its environment for 1 turn during combat, or for 20 seconds in normal threads. (Contested END/LUCK roll. Based on the degree of failure, the target may experience numbness, dizziness, disorientation). Range of 30 ft

Noah’s muscles vibrated with the reverberation of the ghost landshark’s moaning and groaning. Noah knew the sounds that dying creatures made almost as well as he knew the sound of his wife’s voice (how terrible, truly, to think about). This ghostly Landshark was not going to last long. Noah could almost feel Hak Etme’s thankfulness for that fact.

The sands shifted beneath him and even though the creature tried to thrash and lash out in retribution it was futile. Remi held it fast, Ronin assaulted it, and Noa followed suit. Even Flora was able to get in attack this time. With glacier eyes narrowed in on the massive beast, a simple Then let’s end it. came over the attuned bond. The bond filled with Remi and the feelings about the situation, and though Noah couldn’t see the magic that was happening, he trusted it. Then he sent his magic at it again, celestial arrows flicking soundlessly through the air with all the brilliance of the god they came from.

Noah shoots!

Magic: Vi’s Ranger | Noah may summon a celestial energy bow with which he can shoot two celestial energy arrows (at one target) up to 30ft. Control is excellent.

There are times when the unseen can be even more dangerous than what our eyes behold
And end it does.

Unfortunately for Remi, he comes a little too late to end the landshark's suffering in (relative) peace, but at least the Supernova's starbolts make for a very quick death, and as Ronin strikes the killing blow, the spectral monster keens and shudders... and promptly dissipates into little more than a chill breeze across the hot desert sands.

Flora's dagger will strike harmlessly into the ground nearby, and Noah's celestial arrows wink out as they pass through the air and out of range. For a second all feels too big, too still, and small shudders beneath the earth indicate that there are still a few regular-sized landsharks fleeing the scene. They won't be bothering this intrepid group of fighters, though.

No, they know better.

Ghost!Daddy Landshark: 0/486 (Killed by Ronin for levelling purposes)

Ronin: 812/812
Flora: 350/350
Remi: 1500/1500 (shut up lmao)
Noah: 414/414

CONGRATULATIONS ON DEFEATING THE LANDSHARK AND SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETING THE KQ! Each participant gains +2 DEX, but as this was a ghost, there are no spoils for the taking (alas, sorry Flora).
