The way she laughed, how she readily agreed to keep dancing..with a wide smile Emmett remembered why he'd fallen for Phoebe in the first place. Why ultimately, their bumpy patch wouldn't matter in the long run because it was them and she was everything he'd ever really wanted in a companion, fun and hard working and willing to look past his patchwork mess of communication skills.
The next song was a little slower, fewer people on the floor. Emmett took the chance to move more into the middle of the space (though not to the absolute centre. He had never been one to try and grab the spotlight) and change their dance to something slow and rhythmic.
"The kids have missed ya, y'know. They keep askin' about you." He told her over the music, glancing over to where the children were playing. "...I missed you too. It's awful lonely with just toddlers in the house."
