Belief in the cause and trust in Zariah? Or brainwashing and deep, deep, Stockholm syndrome?

ehhhhhhhhh what did it matter now anyways.

However as Zariah approached, Edrei took a deep breath. She wouldn't flinch and she wouldn't cower, but she'd be a fool not to prepare her body for the bright shocks of pain that the head was sure to bestow upon her. She'd have time later, bound up in bed with her body aching to figure out what it was she had done or said wrong. Only this time there wouldn't be Loren there to help her lick her wounds.

And then Zariah spoke and it would leave Edy to reel for far longer than it had ever taken her body to heal. The words were of the flavour that the not-teenager had never tasted before, let alone given mouthfuls of. For a moment her dark eyes locked onto Zariah's. Out of her peripheral vision she tried to take in the thin and perfect doll-like lips to catch sight of a sneer. But there was none.

Eyes refocusing as the head spoke again, Edrei considered carefully. An open platform to many, was an opportunity to speak openly. Not so with the Launceleyns. Edy had pushed this specific set of boundaries once before and though she did not precisely think that Zariah was leading her into a trap, she did think that if she proved she could not learn from her mistakes, Z would likely remove her blessed words immediately.

Still, Edy couldn't help but grin, all sorts of lascivious questions bursting on her tongue. "Nahh." Edrei said, her usual crassness coming through, before she cleared her throat and shook her head. "You have acted as I always thought you would Zariah. You don't fault the knife for cutting you because you were stupid enough to see how sharp it was. "
