She didn't think to seek any of them out because they seemed so self-sufficient in her mind, so utterly without need of her company or attention. Indeed, as the shaman spoke and challenged them all with a question, Maea listened to the answers each gave and tried to think of an answer for herself. Why would anyone have called her? Why call any of them? The looked down on her own pale feet, toes muddied by the trek through the forest, then glanced between the others.
