There would likely be some sort of ritual associated with worship in a place like this. Words to say, gestures of faith, a way to honor the gods each in their own image. Stormbreak in general invited ritual in general, Maea found, and it made her keenly aware of the country bumpkin in her, born and raised in the far more provincial Hollowed Grounds. They had a Temple there too, and the Aetheneum had to at least rival the library here in size. But while her homeland showed the signs of age and wear, Stormbreak felt pristine, closer to what the Settlement must have looked like before the first war, before the barrier and the slow decline of three centuries.
While the Temple had ceased being a place of active worship, this cathedral remained very much in use. It had seemed like a good place to hide in, when the stares of the citizens became too pronounced and she couldn't afford the rooms offered at the inns. But now, seated stiffly on a hard pew, she found it hard to breathe. Ratty clothes and uncombed hair and a buildup of grime beneath her claws felt so inappropriate here and the words of worship she'd once known by heart felt disingenuine. Out of place, out of touch... Just as so many other things in her life.
When the rumble of the doorway opening and closing echoed through the grand hall, she was glad for a reason to turn away. That she found herself faced with Hadama again was more of a surprise than all of Stormbreak - it had her gaping open mouthed, rude as it might be.
"Hadama? You're on land. And walking! How..." The astonishment was entirely real, and made the fair skinned woman seem younger than her years; weariness and uncertainty forgotten for the pure delight of a mystery that couldn't harm anyone.
