The courier blinked, a little surprised by how much energy Zavien still had after their week of hard labor, but it surprised a grin out of the Messenger. At least until he got called 'sir,' and then his expression twisted into baffled bemusement that had him reaching up to rub the back of his neck with a dusty hand, the tips of his ears turning a bit pink.
Hawthorn's decision to stay and help a little longer was even more of a surprise, but it brought the grin back to Tal's face, relief and gratitude a slightly uncomfortable but welcome lump under his sternum. "Hail. Thanks, guys. We could really use th'help," he admitted. With all three of them putting their backs to it, the dig team was able to finish the road to Mourn by the middle of the second day and the crew bringing the last load of gravel also brought along a little surprise - enough food and drinks for a small party! With the work done they were able to have a little fun before going their separate ways, knowing that they'd made King's End a little more civilized for the days ahead.
