Teih Maa, meaning "lost water" is a deep freshwater pool sits within a natural hollow in the Suvahasi, roughly twenty to thirty metres across, its surface still and dark beneath the dense canopy overhead. The water is clear at the edges but quickly deepens to an opaque blue-black toward the centre, with no visible bottom. Thick roots and low-hanging vines crowd the perimeter, some dipping into the water, while patches of open ground around the edge provide just enough space to approach. The surrounding vegetation grows densely but unevenly, leaving irregular gaps between trunks and undergrowth rather than a clean clearing, and the humid air here carries the same drifting pollen as the rest of the Suvahasi, disturbed easily by movement. Despite the heat of the jungle, the water remains cool and undisturbed, forming a rare, stable source of fresh water within the otherwise volatile environment.
